twAIn Robotics, the groundbreaking standards initiative unifying AI and robotics communication protocols, announced that Quasi Robotics has joined as its first board member. This historic partnership marks a significant milestone in the robotics industry's evolution toward open, interoperable standards for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and intelligent automation systems.

As the founding board member of twAIn Robotics, Quasi Robotics brings deep expertise in autonomous mobile robotics and AI-driven automation to help establish industry-wide standards for robotics billing, telemetry, and connectivity. The company has committed to implementing the twAIn Robotics Billing API in its flagship Model C2 AMR platform, with rollout scheduled for March 2026.

Addressing Critical Industry Challenges

The robotics industry currently faces significant barriers to widespread adoption, including fragmentation created by proprietary APIs unique to each manufacturer. Every robot brand maintains its own communication protocol, leading to inconsistent telemetry formats, integration complexity, and challenges in fleet management and billing automation. The twAIn Robotics initiative directly addresses these pain points by establishing open, standardized specifications for robot-to-system communication.

twAIn Robotics Billing API: Enabling Robot-as-a-Service

The twAIn Robotics Billing API represents a lightweight, standardized JSON-based protocol for collecting telemetry data essential for billing and fleet management. The API tracks critical metrics including:

  • Distance traveled and route efficiency
  • Tasks completed and delivery confirmations
  • Energy consumption and battery performance
  • Operational uptime and maintenance intervals
  • Real-time status and location data

By providing a direct communication standard, the API enables simple data collection and seamless integration with financial services platforms, supporting Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) subscription models and usage-based billing frameworks. This standardization allows robotics OEMs, leasing companies, and end users to monetize robotic deployments effectively while maintaining interoperability across diverse robot platforms.

"The robotics industry is ready for standardization, and Quasi Robotics is proud to be the first to commit to this vision," said Vladimir Lebedev, CEO of Quasi Robotics. "Our Model C2 platform was built with connectivity and intelligence at its core, making it the perfect foundation for implementing the TWAIN Billing API. By adopting open standards, we're enabling our customers and partners to deploy AMRs with confidence, knowing their systems will integrate seamlessly with financial platforms, fleet management tools, and future innovations."

“Quasi Robotics joining as a founding board member of TWAIN Robotics underscores the growing industry alignment around open, interoperable standards,” said Joseph Odore, President of the TWAIN Working Group. “Their commitment to implementing the TWAIN Billing API reflects a clear market demand for standardized integration across robotic platforms.”
