Nippybot, a robotics company developing autonomous delivery robots for last-mile logistics, has raised an undisclosed angel funding round as it prepares for the next phase of commercial deployment.

The investment will support the production of additional Nippybot robots, further development of its autonomous delivery platform and the expansion of commercial partnerships across the UK.

Founded in Middlesbrough, Nippybot is developing compact autonomous robots designed to move food, parcels and other goods over short distances.

Rather than positioning autonomous robots as a replacement for entire delivery networks, Nippybot is focused on specific environments where goods need to be moved repeatedly between locations, including logistics sites, university campuses, hospitals, business parks and cities

The company is now progressing opportunities with organisations across multiple sectors as it moves from product development and testing towards real-world deployments.

Nippybot's approach combines autonomous navigation with remote human oversight, allowing robots to operate independently while providing operators with the ability to intervene when required.

Samson Adewole, Founder and CEO of Nippybot, said:

“We didn't start Nippybot simply because autonomous robots are exciting technology. We started with a very practical question: where does moving goods create unnecessary cost, delay or repetitive work, and can a robot do that job reliably?”

He continued:

“This investment allows us to move into the next stage, putting more robots into real environments and working directly with organisations to demonstrate where autonomous delivery makes commercial sense.”

Nippybot is being developed from its base in Middlesbrough, with the company using the Tees Valley as a foundation for developing and testing its technology before expanding deployments elsewhere in the UK.

Samson said the company's immediate focus following the investment is not simply increasing the number of robots it produces, but proving their value through deployment.

“The important milestone for us isn't the number of robots we build. It's the number of useful jobs those robots can reliably perform.

“Every deployment gives us operational data and helps us understand what customers actually need. That's how we intend to build a product that can become part of everyday logistics rather than remaining a technology demonstration.”

As the company expands its fleet and progresses commercial opportunities, Nippybot intends to continue developing its technology and operations from Middlesbrough while establishing partnerships across the UK.

Samson added:

“We're proud that Nippybot is being built in Middlesbrough. There is significant engineering, technology and innovation capability in the North East, and we want to demonstrate that globally relevant robotics companies can be built here.

“We've spent a lot of time developing the technology. The next chapter is about getting Nippybot out there, solving real problems and building strong partnerships.”

The company is currently engaging with organisations interested in exploring autonomous delivery and expects to announce further deployment and partnership developments as its rollout progresses.
