  • Unitree Robotics introduces the H2 Plus, a humanoid reference robot based on NVIDIA Isaac GR00T, which combines a humanoid Unitree H2 robot, Sharpa five-fingered hands for dexterous handling, NVIDIA Jetson Thor for advanced decision-making and control, and the new NVIDIA Isaac GR00T development platform.
  • The Isaac GR00T development platform – which ranges from data acquisition and generation to evaluation and deployment of robot models – helps developers accelerate their workflows in the development of humanoid robots.

Unitree unveiled the H2 Plus, the first reference design for a humanoid robot based on the NVIDIA Isaac™ GR00T development platform . This reference design helps democratize cutting-edge research in humanoid robotics by providing access to state-of-the-art hardware and an open software stack without the need for proprietary platforms.

While the demand for general-purpose humanoids  is increasing, developers still face a fragmented process that includes hardware integration, data acquisition, simulation, training, evaluation, and deployment.

The NVIDIA Isaac™ GR00T reference humanoid robot unifies development by combining a Unitree H2 Plus humanoid robot and Sharpa Wave tactile five-fingered hands (the "body") with NVIDIA Jetson Thor™-based  onboard computing power, along with the Isaac GR00T software and corresponding workflows (the "brain"), in a single integrated reference design. This helps research teams move more quickly from robot commissioning to capability development and real-world validation.

With NVIDIA's computing and open software stack at its core, the reference design offers research teams a more unified and secure foundation for the further development of humanoid robotics.

“Developers want humanoid robots that they can build upon,” said Xingxing Wang, founder and CEO of Unitree Robotics. “The H2 Plus combines Unitree’s humanoid with NVIDIA Jetson Thor and the NVIDIA Isaac GR00T development platform, providing teams with a proven foundation for developing robotic capabilities and implementing them in real-world applications.”

“Humanoid robots will bring physical AI to the world’s largest industries, unlocking trillions of dollars in economic opportunities,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “The NVIDIA Isaac GR00T reference humanoid robot, based on H2 Plus, provides researchers with a unified, open platform to make groundbreaking discoveries in universal physical intelligence.”

A state-of-the-art humanoid robot for the development of Physical AI

The H2 Plus is a state-of-the-art humanoid robot that combines the essential building blocks of groundbreaking humanoid research into one system, creating a human-sized robot with skillful manipulation, sensors, control, and integrated AI computing power.

The reference design has the following features:

  • The humanoid chassis “Unitree H2” is almost 1.80 meters tall and weighs 68 kilograms; it has 31 degrees of freedom throughout its body and is designed for human-scale testing.
  • Two tactile five-fingered hands of the Sharpa Wave type , which enable skillful handling with 22 degrees of freedom and give the robot a total of 75 degrees of freedom across body and hands.
  • Multi-camera sensor system consisting of a head-mounted stereo camera with a large field of view (140 degrees horizontal, 102 degrees vertical), wrist cameras for close-range manipulations and an inertial measurement unit for motion detection.
  • Whole-body control with a torque of up to 120 Newton meters in the arms and up to 360 Newton meters in the legs, a nominal load of 7 kilograms in the arms and a peak load of 15 kilograms, enabling greater carrying capacity and range.
  • NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor™ T5000 with integrated computing power, consisting of an NVIDIA Blackwell GPU with AI performance of 2,070 FP4 teraflops, a 14-core Arm CPU, 128 GB of unified memory and a configurable power range of 40 to 130 watts for real-time sensor processing and robot inference.
  • Connectivity via Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB, and a range of microphones and speakers for voice interaction.
  • Battery for extended operation with a capacity of 15 Ah (0.972 kWh) and a runtime of approximately three hours.
  • Remote-controlled emergency stop function for quick and safe disengagement of the robot.

NVIDIA Isaac GR00T offers a comprehensive platform for the development of humanoids.

The NVIDIA software stack provides the development environment for simulation, training, evaluation and deployment, while researchers retain control over their robot data, training data, telemetry data and logs.

The Isaac GR00T platform includes:

Thanks to its modular design, robotics teams can use the entire platform or integrate selected functions into existing development processes, allowing them to scale the development of humanoid robots without having to rebuild the same infrastructure for every robot or task.

The NVIDIA Isaac GR00T developer platform will also support the Unitree G1 humanoid robot, thus extending the same development approach to a robot that is widely used by researchers and developers of humanoid robots at leading institutions.

Availability

Unitree has released the complete technical specifications of its H2 Plus humanoid robot. Interested developers can visit the H2 Plus website  for detailed technical information. The Unitree H2 Plus will be available by the end of 2026.

The NVIDIA Isaac GR00T platform and the reference workflow for Unitree G1 are expected to be available soon on GitHub and Hugging Face for robotics developers.
