FMC³ Robotics, a leader in Physical AI technology for robotics, announced the appointment of Dr. Joachim Fetzer as President of Europe.
With nearly 30 years of executive leadership in automotive electrification, powertrains, and industrial automation—including senior executive roles at Bosch, SB LiMotive, Brusa, and Marelli—Dr. Fetzer brings deep operational expertise to FMC³ Robotics. His arrival marks a key milestone as the company transitions from core technology R&D to proof-of-concept validation, commercial deployment, and industrial-scale production.
Bridging "Software-Defined Vehicles" and "Software-Defined Robotics"
FMC³ Robotics develops its AI Brain platform for robotics, built around two core capabilities: physical-world data collection and model training. As Physical AI moves from lab demos to factory floors in 2026, the industry's primary challenge is embedding advanced AI models into robot systems that meet rigorous industrial safety and mass-production standards.
Dr. Fetzer brings a unique perspective shaped by the automotive industry’s full transition from hardware to software-defined architectures. Over a 20-year tenure at Bosch, he advanced from foundational BMS software engineering to executive leadership across electrification and hybrid units. Later, as an Executive Board member at SB LiMotive (a Bosch-Samsung JV), he spearheaded the transition of automotive-grade batteries from engineering samples to mass delivery, before serving as CTIO at Marelli, where he steered global R&D and hardware-software integration for major OEMs.
"Today, industrial robotics is undergoing a fundamental shift—moving from rigid, hard-coded automation to dynamic Physical AI that can adapt on the factory floor while maintaining automotive-grade reliability," said Cheng Wang, CEO of FMC³ Robotics. "Joachim is one of the rare leaders who lived through that complete automotive evolution and understands how to integrate software intelligence into mass-production systems. His leadership will strengthen FMC³ as we advance our AI Brain platform for industrial robotics."
Accelerating Commercial Growth Across Europe
As President of Europe, Dr. Fetzer will oversee FMC³’s European strategy, industrial customer expansion, mass-production partnerships, and local team growth. His deep network across European manufacturing, supply chains, and regulatory ecosystems will significantly streamline FMC³’s go-to-market execution.
"Physical AI has evolved from advanced research into practical proof-of-concept validation," said Dr. Joachim Fetzer. "FMC³ has built a formidable tech foundation around its data collection flywheel and model training. I see a clear path to embedding this AI Brain into industrial robots at scale. Europe boasts the world’s highest manufacturing standards and its most dense customer base—exactly where my experience can drive the highest impact."
