Robbyant, an Ant Group company specializing in embodied AI, has debuted its first humanoid robot, the Robbyant R1, at IFA 2025 in Berlin, September 5–9. As an AI-powered multi-purpose robot, R1 can be deployed across sectors including catering, tour guiding and healthcare, with catering as its first commercial use case.
For large kitchens and catering businesses, R1 is able to handle complex, multi-step cooking workflows that traditionally require repetitive and tedious manual operations. With high efficiency and reliability, it supports a wide range of cooking styles and cuisines.
Embodied AI bringing R1 advanced features
R1 is powered by a large model for embodied AI that enables sophisticated end-to-end, long-horizon task planning. From the moment an order is placed, R1 can autonomously plan and execute tasks such as grasping ingredients, operating cooking equipment, and preparing meals.
The AI model also allows R1 to learn new recipes through continuous training, and gives it ability to adapt to a variety of kitchen appliances such as woks, stoves, and coffee machines from different brands. As cooking requires high levels of hand dexterity, R1 is equipped with an AI-powered spatial perception system that can recognize the spatial relationships among various types of objects, such as tables, appliances, cookware and utensils, enabling precise grasping for accurate, consistent execution.
To better serve catering businesses, R1 can be customized from its standard configuration, to address specific needs of different kitchen layouts and workflows.
Leveraging robots to benefit people’s everyday lives
Zheng Yuewen, Country Manager for the DACH region at Robbyant, noted, “The emergence of embodied intelligence unlocks significant potential for AI technologies in the real world. AI-powered humanoid robots can liberate humanity from massive amounts of tedious daily labor, enabling people to focus more on creative endeavors, while tackling workforce shortages across multiple fields. R1 is one of our first commercial applications of embodied AI, and is the first step in our ongoing efforts to advance in this direction.”
“We are excited to debut our first humanoid robot in Berlin, and we are willing to collaborate with partners across DACH and the broader European market to explore how embodied AI and humanoid robots can deliver richer use cases and benefit more people's daily lives.” Zheng added.
Looking ahead, Robbyant will continue to explore real-world applications of embodied AI, particularly in the consumer market, with the goal of developing robotic companions and caregivers that truly understand and enhance people’s everyday lives, and delivering reliable, intelligent, and high-quality services to underserved or labor-constrained sectors, such as elderly care, medical assistance, and household tasks.
