Designed for logistics and defense, SteerAI combines advanced AI, modular hardware, and fleet management to enhance vehicle autonomy, enabling high-precision missions, safeguarding workers, and advancing the UAE’s leadership in autonomous technology innovation.
VentureOne, the commercialization arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has launched SteerAI, an advanced AI-powered mobility system capable of transforming ordinary industrial vehicles into powerful autonomous machines.
Initially targeting the logistics and defense sectors, SteerAI uses a hardware kit, software suite, and fleet management system that enables autonomous ground vehicles to perform complex missions with high precision and efficiency, saving time and resources and protecting workers. SteerAI’s technology was developed by experts from the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of ATRC.
Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the President of the UAE and Secretary-General of ATRC, said: “The launch of SteerAI is an important milestone in cementing the UAE’s leadership in autonomous technology. At ATRC, our vision is to constantly push the boundaries of innovation, and SteerAI exemplifies how we are transforming groundbreaking research into practical solutions that deliver real impact.”
“We’re not just creating an autonomous vehicle, we’re creating the ‘brain’ of an autonomous vehicle,” said Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII. “Advanced navigation algorithms work with state-of-the-art sensors as part of a modular, efficient system that can be applied to any vehicle and has the potential to transform the way we travel.”
Autonomous vehicles with SteerAI’s system will be able to navigate consistently and accurately between navigation points with minimal downtime. The software suite works in conjunction with corresponding sensors, enabling vehicles to respond quickly to potential hazards, navigate around obstacles and operate smoothly, even in challenging environmental conditions and unmapped areas.
In addition to enabling fully autonomous mobility, SteerAI’s software also facilitates remote fleet management, offering mission planning and monitoring, as well as data-driven analytics to ensure optimal vehicle allocation and performance.
“The launch of SteerAI marks an important milestone in our journey to create positive impact through advanced technologies,” said Reda Nidhakou, interim CEO of VentureOne. “The mobility needs of the logistics and defense industries are intense, complex and expensive. Our autonomous, vehicle-agnostic system redefines operational efficiency and precision while protecting companies’ most valuable assets: their people. Our mission is to use technology to help our partners transform the way they operate.”
SteerAI is the second initiative launched by VentureOne. AI71, which launched in November 2023, develops enterprise solutions using TII’s Falcon generative AI models.
