In partnership with Jungheinrich subsidiary Magazino, Gabor Shoes AG successfully integrates two TORU robots to streamline shoe picking and boost efficiency at its Mindelheim warehouse.
Gabor Shoes AG has implemented two TORU robots from the Jungheinrich subsidiary Magazino in its warehouse in Mindelheim, successfully automating its shoe picking process.
Gabor Shoes AG, a long-standing German company and one of the largest shoe manufacturers in Europe, is automating shoe picking at its Mindelheim location near Munich together with the Jungheinrich subsidiary Magazino. Two TORU robots were deployed to assist with order fulfillment. The aim of this collaboration is to automate a key fulfillment process, aligning order picking with the high level of automation already present throughout the warehouse.
“We chose Toru because we were convinced by the combination of modern technology and high personal commitment from the Magazino team,” explains Armin Euler, Head of Controlling & Logistics.
The implementation of the TORU robots at Gabor in Mindelheim went smoothly. Following the contract signing, the project delivery began with a kick-off meeting. The commissioning, including IT integration, was completed within approximately three months. This short time frame was made possible by the already optimal storage conditions, which met all the requirements for the mobile picking robots. The effective collaboration also allowed for the timely implementation of process changes to suit the unique requirements of Gabor.
Ruben Salz, Project Manager at Magazino, says: “During the commissioning of the TORUs in Mindelheim, Magazino’s robotics know-how met Gabor’s clear strategy for autonomous warehouse processes, which allowed the project team to work together efficiently and overcome typical challenges. The rollout of TORU marks a further step into the future of logistics for Gabor, and Magazino has gained another customer that is already turning our vision of automated logistics into reality.”
TORU works autonomously and can be quickly integrated into existing warehouse environments. The robot is able to perceive its surroundings and operate safely alongside human staff with the help of 3D cameras, sensors and laser scanners. At Gabor, its tasks consist of picking, transporting, and sorting shoe boxes of various sizes into a handover station, with a carrying capacity of up to 16 boxes in its backpack. Orders are transmitted via a wireless connection to Gabor’s warehouse management system.
The TORU robots in Mindelheim are operating at full capacity and handling an increasing number of orders in the picking process. Magazino is optimistic about the future of its partnership with Gabor Shoes AG and looks forward to continued collaboration in the future.
